Mediation
Mediation is a form of dispute resolution. It is a confidential negotiation led by a third person, a mediator. It is a structured, interactive process where an impartial third party assists disputing parties in resolving conflict through the use of specialized communication and negotiation techniques. The mediator helps the parties negotiate a jointly acceptable resolution of issues in the conflict. The parties are in control of the outcome and the parties ultimately get to decide if the matter can be resolved. The mediator does not judge the outcome of the matter and has no authority to decide the outcome of the case.
Mediations are scheduled by Zoom or in person.
Parenting Facilitation
Parenting Facilitation services are for parents who are in high conflict situations. The primary role of the parenting facilitator is to assist the parties to work out disagreements regarding the children to minimize conflict. A parenting facilitator
sometimes teaches skills while monitoring a family’s transition as they go through a divorce, or a modification that affects the parent-child relationship. The goal of the parenting facilitation process is to minimize the impact of the conflict on the children.
The parenting facilitator is either agreed to by the parties, or assigned by the Judge. The parenting facilitator interfaces with the parties, the attorneys, and other professionals as the case progresses.
Parenting facilitation sessions are normally by telephone or Zoom.
Divorce Coaching
A divorce coach is a trained professional who helps guide the client through each step of the divorce process, before, during and after. A divorce coach can help the client remain calm, and better understand the process to help the client make good decisions about the future. A divorce coach does not offer legal advice; the coach can help the client understand the decisions that will be encountered and help make the process of divorce less stressful.
The divorce coach will meet with one party and help that client plan his or her future. These one on one sessions can enable the client to prioritize goals. The divorce coach and client work on a plan that the client can then use as a guide to get through the process of divorce. A divorce coach also sometimes helps the client organize and collect documents needed for the divorce. A divorce coach is available for the client to vent and express feelings.
Divorce coaching sessions are normally by telephone or Zoom.
